ANDOPEN Showcases Smart City Identity Solutions at 2025 Smart City Summit & Expo

In March 2025, the ANDOPEN team had the privilege of participating in Asia’s premier smart city event, the Smart City Summit & Expo (SCSE 2025) held at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center. Our delegation showcased our groundbreaking SNAPPASS technology and connected with global leaders in urban innovation, reinforcing our commitment to building privacy-focused identity solutions for the cities of tomorrow.

Global Innovation Gathering in Taipei

The Smart City Summit & Expo 2025, held from March 18-21, brought together city officials, technology pioneers, and industry leaders from across the globe to explore the latest advancements in urban development and digital transformation. This year’s theme, “AI-driven Future Taipei,” highlighted the growing importance of artificial intelligence in creating sustainable, efficient, and secure urban environments.

With over 200 exhibitors and thousands of attendees from government and private sectors, SCSE 2025 proved to be an invaluable platform for showcasing solutions that address the complex challenges facing modern cities. The expo featured specialized pavilions focusing on AI, IoT, 5G, smart healthcare, intelligent transportation, and net-zero initiatives.

Our Open Mic Pitch: Strong Identity as the Foundation of Smart Cities

One of the highlights of our participation was the opportunity to present at the SCSE 2025 Open Mic session, where we shared our vision for privacy-first identity verification in smart cities. Our presentation emphasized how secure and resiliant identity management forms the backbone of truly intelligent “smart” urban ecosystems.

As we explained during our pitch, current identity verification systems depend heavily on networks, central databases, and costly infrastructure, making them vulnerable to security breaches, fraud, and operational inefficiencies. ANDOPEN’s solution addresses these fundamental challenges through our innovative SNAPPASS technology, allowing cities to achieve a “net-zero” infrastructure that doesn’t rely on any network to function.

SNAPPASS: Redefining Identity Authentication for Smart Cities

During our presentation and at our exhibition booth, we demonstrated how SNAPPASS delivers a privacy-first approach to identity verification that aligns perfectly with smart city objectives:

  • 100% Offline Operation: SNAPPASS functions entirely without network connectivity, eliminating data breach risks and enhancing privacy protection.
  • Scalable & Seamless Integration: Our solution works anywhere and integrates smoothly with existing urban infrastructure, making it ideal for diverse smart city applications.
  • Ultra-Secure Verification: The 1:1 encrypted facial verification prevents fraud, theft, and misuse, establishing a foundation of trust for digital interactions.

We showcased real-world applications across multiple sectors critical to smart city development:

Access Control for Public Services

SNAPPASS is built to the specifications of Access Control in a variety of environments, ranging from facility management, hospitals, education, government buildings, healthcare, sports, corporate offices, schools, buildings, etc. It’s networkless nature and privacy focused design is supplemented by ease of use for the end user. Supplementing card based access control, SNAPPASS eliminates the inherent risks card systems carry with card sharing and copying. Instead, SNAPPASS encrypts a facial image of the cardowner exclusively into the card, making it impossible for anyone else to use the card information except for the owner.

Enhanced National Security

Following access control, SNAPPASS can be used to facilitate identity verification at a national level. As a biometric identification solution, national ID cards with SNAPPIN onboard enables accurate and performant identification at a national scale, for both public and private sector services.

SNAPPIN technology can also be embedded into passports to enable local and interoperable biometrics at international borders without maintaining large biometric databases. Employees of government and defense industries can also be protected from security and privacy threats by ensuring through multi-factor authentication that access cards only work for the owner (non-transferable), and that card sharing, theft, and unreported card loss do not develop into security risks.

Fraud Prevention in Financial Services

With credit card fraud costing financial institutions over $30 billion annually, SNAPPASS offers smart cities a solution that adds biometric verification to financial transactions without compromising user privacy.

Secure Ticketing & Public Venue Management

For large-scale events and public transportation—hallmarks of efficient smart cities—SNAPPASS can process up to 60 visitors per minute while eliminating ticket fraud and unauthorized resale.

Networking with Global Smart City Leaders

Throughout the four-day event, our team engaged with delegations from cities worldwide, technology integrators, and potential partners interested in implementing privacy-first identity solutions in their smart city initiatives. The expo provided an excellent opportunity to discuss how ANDOPEN’s approach to identity verification can address the unique challenges faced by different urban environments.

We were particularly engaged in conversations with representatives from the Malaysian public and private sector, Ukrainian City Councils, the Hungarian business delegation, and of course other startups that shared our vision of bringing innovations to smart cities.

Building Trust in Smart Cities

Our participation in the 2025 Smart City Summit & Expo reinforced our belief that trusted identity verification is foundational to successful smart city implementation. As cities worldwide continue to invest in digital infrastructure and AI-driven services, the need for privacy-preserving authentication solutions will only grow. The expo also allowed us to connect with potential B2G partners for smart city pilot projects and B2B integrators looking to incorporate secure, privacy-focused identity verification into their solutions. These relationships will be instrumental as we continue to scale our technology across global markets.

At ANDOPEN, we remain committed to developing technologies that protect both organizations and their users, ensuring that the smart cities of tomorrow are not just efficient and innovative, but also secure and respectful of individual privacy. We’re excited to build on the connections made at SCSE 2025 and continue our journey toward creating a more secure future for cities worldwide.
